I love this oven. The first one I owned died after about 3 years and I bought another brand but had to return to the T-Fal. Bakes/roasts thoroughly and in general performs like a regular oven. Controls are easy to operate and the bun warmer is just a delight.
I’ve owned this convection oven almost 4 years and have used it a great deal. The good: as a convection oven it works great. It is easy to set or adjust the cook time and temperature, the rack can hold a good sized dish and their is adequate height to put taller foods in the oven, the unit is small enough to be put away out of sight under a counter. The rack and pan are easy to remove for cleaning. The not-so-good: one of the control buttons was mislabeled (but it is very easy to operate so not a big deal), the bun warmer doesn’t work that well, as a toaster it isn’t that great but can get by with it if a real toaster isn’t available. Bottom line - I always prefer to use this oven instead of my full size oven unless the things I am cooking are too large for the Avante. It heats fast, cooks well, cools quickly, and can be stored out of sight, nice product.
You cannot go wrong purchasing the convection one. It’s all I ever use. I got it as a gift and cannot go a day withou using it. Great Item.
Very dangerous. As with all the other reviews here describing the door shattering ours did as well. It shattered and flew everywhere in the kitchen. It ruined our dinner that night because glass was in everything. Do not purchase.
First and foremost, all of those people returning their “defective” ovens because of a “grinding” sound coming from the “fan” don’t know the first thing about a convection oven, so they’re missing out on a great product. It’s not a fan, nor is it a grinding sound. It’s quite normal and it is only noticeable as the AIR PUMP gets up to speed. After that, it’s nothing more than a gentle purring sound.
In fact, I just went to the kitchen to move my crab cakes from the MicroWave to the Avante Convection Oven and it sounds less like a purr, than a soft humming sound. My crab cakes that would have taken 25-28 minutes in a normal oven will now be crisp and ready after 4-5 minutes in the microwave and 2-3 minutes on either side in the convection oven.
Someone was at least smart enough to compare it to the pumping sound of a dishwasher. I call that smart because that’s what they’re hearing. It’s not a fan; it’s an air pump. A fan would never survive the 350-500 degree temperatures of an oven like this. The motor would be right in the path of the hot blasting air.
If not the fan would have to be belt driven (melted rubber anyone?) or gear driven and how would you keep the gears lubricated at 500 degrees?
The bottom line is that this is a great oven for finishing off a quick meal that requires browning, after starting it in the microwave. It’s not great as a toaster, but it can’t be beat for baking or broiling when you don’t need a full-sized oven, and you can reduce the cooking time considerably when baking, thanks to the convection provided by the AIR PUMP!
I got my mom this toaster oven for Mother’s Day this year. She thought it was great b/c it is so large and because of the upper & lower trays. However, she only had it a couple weeks when the unthinkable happened. The glass blew out into a million pieces in every direction! Thank goodness she wasn’t watching my 1 year old who usually sits near it to eat his breakfast! It is was on a table with nothing/noone near it. My mom had toasted an English muffin and not at a very high temp left the room, noticed it was finished and that the toaster was off, fortunately left the room for a moment again and as she was walking back saw the glass explode everywhere!!!! If she had been even a foot or two closer she would have been impaled by glass! I shutter to think what would’ve happened had my son been there!!! Nothing touched it or hit it, it just exploded! After she had cleaned up the mess she called TFal and they said they’d send another!!!! Who wants another glass bomb in their house??? They said it wasn’t a recall issue and that it was just a flook that this happened. Ok, who really wants to take that chance!!!!
This is the best toaster oven we’ve ever had. We’ve had it for over a year now and it does exactly waht it says it will do. (It didn’t have a convection feature when I bought it, I think someone just screwed up the description, if it doesn’t. When I bought it they had 2 ovens, one with convection and one without. (We bought the one withoutO
Loved this toaster oven, twice, until….
BOTH of them just up and died within 6 months. It works very well, while it works, But I’ve had two of them and neither has worked very long. They both just went dark. AVOID.
Great while it works right. My temperature controls are WAAAAAAY off…by 50 degrees. Takes two hours to bake a potato. Mine is only a year old and I used it almost every day. Bought an oven thermomter and tested it….results above. Liked everything else about it…but have had bette, cheaper toaster ovens.

I use my toaster oven every day and it has been great. So sorry for those who where disappointed. My grown children want one for Christmas this year so that should tell you something. Have had mine for 6 months now and have not any of the problems some may have experienced. I line my tray with aluminum foil and never have to deal with clean up. I have baked brownies, cooked toaster pastries, hotdogs, even broiled a steak with mushrooms. I love it!!
YOU LISTED THE TO600 TOASTEROVEN AS HAVING 2 RACKS/BROIL PAN, COOKIE SHEET AND PIZZA PAN?
I HAVE RECEIVED 4 REPLACEMENTS FROM YOU AND THEY ARE ALL THE SAME JUST ONE RACK AND ONE BAKE PAN? IS THIS LACK OF COMMUNICATION WITH RIVAL AS TO WHAT YOU ARE RECEIVING? AND SENDING OUT OR IS THIS FALSE ADVERTISING?
I’ve had this oven for about 2 years. I was satisfied with it until this morning when the heating element wouldn’t come on. The fan did. I thought was toast was cooking until I looked at the oven and it was still cold. It did do a great job on pizza. If you’re wanting to cook toast, buy something else. Considering the cost, I expected it to last longer. I don’t recommend this item.
Very good product for the price, good size it bakes excellent, broiling is very good, and toasting is good.
We used it for the first time and baked Salmon. The result was excellent. And we didn’t even notice the initial odor of the anti-rust coating on the heating coils being burned off. My wife was especially happy(and when momma’s happy, everyone tends to be happier!).
