I wanted a basic but reliable toaster oven. An older Black and Decker version we loved finally gave in and I purchased this one after reading one positive review. I absolutely hate this oven. The timer slips and stops clicking but does not turn the over off. It is a fire hazard. A few times the oven kept toasting and I finally noticed the smoke and burning smell. I usually use the “light” or “medium” setting but one of us has to literally stand next to the oven while toasting to manually turn it off. I wish I returned it right away.

I GOT THIS TOASTER OVEN LAST WEEK AND SO FAR I AM PLEASED. I DO, HOWEVER, HAVE A FEW NEGATIVE COMMENTS. FIRST THE LACK OF A CLOCK. WHEN THE UNIT IS PLUGGED IN AND NOT BEING USED IT READS ZEROES WHERE A CLOCK SHOULD BE. I JUST UNPLUG MINE BECAUSE I DON’T WANT TO SEE THE ZEROES BUT A CLOCK WOULD BE A BIG IMPROVEMENT. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO HAVE A PREHEAT FEATURE. I HAD A MUCH SMALLER TOASTER OVEN BEFORE I GOT THIS ONE SO IT HEATED TO THE DESIRED TEMP VERY QUICKLY. WITH THIS OVEN AND IT’S MUCH BIGGER INTERIOR, I AM USING IT FOR THINGS I ALWAYS USED MY REGULAR OVEN FOR IN THE PAST. IT TAKES 10-15 MINUTES TO PREHEAT AND 10-15 MINUTES LONGER TO DO THE ACTUAL COOKING/BAKING SO YOU HAVE TO ADD ALL THIS EXTRA TIME WHEN YOU’RE SETTING THE TIMER—-KIND OF A PAIN. I HAVEN’T USED THE WARMER YET BUT I’M SURE IT WILL COME IN HANDY. ONE THING I DID DO WAS BUY AN OVEN LINER. [...] CARRIES ONE SPECIFICALLY FOR TOASTER OVENS BUT I BOUGHT ONE FOR A STANDARD OVEN AND CUT IT TO FIT THE CRUMB TRAY, THE BOTTOM OF THE WARMING COMPARTMENT AND THE WARMING TRAY. THIS SHOULD KEEP THE INTERIOR CLEANER LONGER. HOPE MY REVIEW IS HELPFUL.

We bought this toaster about two months ago, after much research. Our old one was a simple, cheap one from Sunbeam, which lasted about ten years until the lever for toast broke.
I never really wanted a “convection” toaster, but I decided to give it a try because I thought it might save energy when baking. It actually does a very fast job at that, much more efficient than the regular oven we used before.
I used the broiler just once so far and it works well.
Toast is very good: crunchy on the outside, moist inside (but that depends on taste). One gripe is with the knobs, which are hard to grab. The design of the knob is especially annoying in the timer, because it just sort of slides to the desired time, there’s no way of precisely selecting the position, like a good stereo knob would. We haven’t quite found the best spot on the timer for the perfect toast, I’m having to rely on visual clues and often just take the toast out before the timer rings.
The tray is easy to clean and slides out conveniently.
The hooks on the door hinges that make the rack slide out make it difficult to close the door completely - we decided to fold ours in and not use them, so the door closes correctly.
Be diligent when shopping for this item, prices vary widely from place to place and you may overpay.

I have had this product for perhaps a year. It is not equipped with an off/on switch, only a dial timer. This timer has now broken - what a waste of my money.

This unit has received a bad rap on this site. It is possible to set timer for less than 20 minutes and it is possible make toast without burning it. Control knob is a bit stiff to begin with and the unit is not as intuitive as other models I’ve used, but if you bother to read the very brief directions you shouldn’t have any trouble at all. As a matter of fact, this unit makes much better toast than other brands I have tried. It is also very handsome unit and looks good in a kitchen with stainless steel appliances. I can’t speak to the broiler function because I really would never use a toaster oven to broil.

I do love my toaster oven! The only reason I give it four stars is because the other model of the same toaster oven I had before this one (lasted 3yrs. used almost everyday, many times a day) had two buttons at the bottom instead of a dial. You could stop your toasting if you were finished. Now I have to wait till the little dial timer is done ticking. I mean I can get to my stuff and get it out, it’s just the fact that it’s still heating. Overall it does the job.

This toaster oven offers toasting, broiling, baking, and convection oven — a nice array. The control dials are comfortable to work with [function, temperature, and timer]. Nothing happens until the timer is set. It seems accurate. Pan and rack cleaned up easily. A surprise was the requirement to have 6″ air space on all sides, including rear, of the oven. That uses more counter space. But it’s necessary because the rear gets hot too. A negative factor: the instruction book does not offer much help…no suggestions … no recipes to give an idea about cooking times & procedures.

Nice looks, but unreliable product. The timer broke after 8 months. It also takes a long time to toast. We have been searching for a few years for a quality toaster oven for a decent price. This one was disappointing.

Like other reviews:

1) Timer would not automatically shut off for toast when turned to a light setting. Dark setting would burn, I mean BURN, the toast (intense smoke, smoke detectors alarming, etc.)

2) The toaster got so hot that the oven gloves, and pot holders, actually started to smolder and smoke (I had them setting on top the device like I did with my former toaster for the last 20 years.)

3) To make it worse, the chumps at Target would not take it back.

Like in some of the others’ reviews, mine worked great for about 6 months. Last week the timer stopped making the “ding” when it finished a toasting cycle.

Tonight about 20 minutes after using it, I smelled something burning in my kitchen. The timer had continued past the “toast” mode into “oven” mode…not a good thing when the temperature knob is set to it’s highest setting to make toast. When I tried to switch it off, the cheap plastic knob melted off in my hand.

As soon as it cools off, it’s going in the garbage, and I guess I’ll have to start saving my money for a better model…and eat cold food for a few weeks. I won’t be purchasing another POS DeLonghi.

I’m not going to bother trying to get it fixed, but I WILL bother reporting it as a fire hazard to the Amazon product safety team AND the US Consumer Poduct Safety Commission.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR RISK BURNING DOWN YOUR HOME WITH THIS ITEM!!! If you already HAVE one…unplug it immediately and chunk it in the garbage!!!
