I have been looking for a new toaster oven for a long time now. I spent hours, on various sites including Amazon, reading reviews. I don’t recall this toaster oven (pictured above - Oster with brushed stainless steel and manual knobs) on Amazon at the time I looked and could not find one I liked. I ended up finding this one at Target for about $50.00 on sale. I took a chance and bought it. What a deal. I have used toaster ovens for the last 15 years (I don’t own a microwave) and this one is my favorite. It is not too big and not too small. A pizza does fit. Many of my regular baking pans fit. The confection feature makes things heat faster. The best part is that it does not get crazy hot like some reviews on other toaster ovens mentions. IT DOES GET VERY VERY HOT, but all toaster ovens do, as far as I know. But this one is not going to melt your painted cabinets - and mine are somewhat close to the oven. I am very happy and think it is a good buy. Note: I don’t use it for toast.

I chose this toaster-oven based on the user reviews on Amazon for all the ovens I researched before buying. I was not disappointed. It heats up fast, it toasts well and it makes flawless frozen pizza. That’s all its been used for so far. Compared to its predecessor, a cheaper Euro-Pro, it is much faster and the settings are accurate. The only negatives are that the outside gets very hot (which most if not all do), it hums at 60 cycles when off, and the price (higher than nearly all others). It’s worth considering if the price is not an issue.

Like in some of the others’ reviews, mine worked great for about 6 months. Last week the timer stopped making the “ding” when it finished a toasting cycle.

Tonight about 20 minutes after using it, I smelled something burning in my kitchen. The timer had continued past the “toast” mode into “oven” mode…not a good thing when the temperature knob is set to it’s highest setting to make toast. When I tried to switch it off, the cheap plastic knob melted off in my hand.

As soon as it cools off, it’s going in the garbage, and I guess I’ll have to start saving my money for a better model…and eat cold food for a few weeks. I won’t be purchasing another POS DeLonghi.

I’m not going to bother trying to get it fixed, but I WILL bother reporting it as a fire hazard to the Amazon product safety team AND the US Consumer Poduct Safety Commission.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR RISK BURNING DOWN YOUR HOME WITH THIS ITEM!!! If you already HAVE one…unplug it immediately and chunk it in the garbage!!!

This is a flimsy product that is made in China. The exterior gets extremely hot, and is a fire hazard. I am giving it two stars because of its multi-functionality, not because of how satisfied I am with the purchase.
Before you decide not to buy, I would like to share my two cents about the comments other reviewers made:
1) The oven does go to 450F, the last temperature listed on the knob is 390F, however, it does turn past it to “broil”, which I assume is 450F.

I am returning this item back to Amazon!!

I am a widow and wanted something that I could use to bake a small serving in so I wouldn’t have to heat up the whole oven. Have used this for baking and toasting and it has been great! I have had this toaster oven for about a year when it passed away. Still, it worked better, was more solid and well-designed than any I’d ever had before, so I ordered what was apparently the last one in the US here on Amazon. The sellers took a couple of months to get it to me and I have not yet had time to open the rather battered box. But am hoping.

I’ve had this oven for about 18 months. It has been great. Minor complaints about the top of casseroles getting too brown but I loved the fact that I can fit a large casserole dish in it. Another complaint is the handle is plastic and the paint started to wear off after one year of use. If you have large hands you might burn yourself when reaching over hand to grab the handle because your knucles will brush against the chrome at the top of the oven and this part does get hot.
Here comes the disappointment. After 18 months the top heating elements are no longer funtioning. I hate to think of another toaster oven in the landfill and really wish this would have performed longer. My husband is checking in to replacement parts, but it looks doubtful at this point. I think it will go to the recyle bin and I am now shopping on Amazon for a new toaster oven.

I did a lot of research into the best toaster oven. Here’s what I found.

* If you want to use this as a small oven as well (saves on some electricity since you are not heating an entire oven) the best one out there is the Breville Oven which I found at WIlliam Sonoma. At about $300 it is a pricey investment, but if you can afford it, it’s worth it.

* All the reviews I have read, said that the toaster oven really doesn’t do good toast. Also, that not much has changed in the design of these appliances except that the price and size has gone up tremendously.

*After looking at the selection in a local store, I would have to agree. The lower-end ovens felt like cheap imitations of the toaster oven I knew and loved as a kid. Some of them are bigger now - hence the “oven” function - but the price has gone up as well.

* I bought the Breville, took it home and tried it out. I loved it! However my husband didn’t like the pricetag in our current economy. I had to return it. But let me say that this oven is worth the money. You get good toast and a good oven. All the features advertised are there and work well. It only takes a few minutes to heat the oven to 450 and has the space to fit a 12″ frozen pizza.

* I ended up finding this oven, DeLonghi, on sale through Amazon for $49. which was a very significant markdown. For that price we decided to buy.

* This is a far cry from the Breville: the toast doesn’t brown evenly on both sides, it has an annoying ticking sound as the timer counts down, It takes a l o n g time to toast, and worst of all, there is no interior light! However, you can fit a 12″ pizza in it, just be prepared to rotate it since this oven doesn’t cook evenly.

* Oh, and another feature that I would think would be a no brainer, is to have the rack come out when the door is opened. Of course my beloved Breville has this, but not the rated “D” DeLonghi.

* I would have been very upset if I had paid full price for this. If you can’t afford the Breville, and you can find this for a low price, it’s probably worth considering. I think DeLonghi is probably phasing this out.
